Challenge
The leaders of Bombardier Aerospace in Belfast decided that cultural transformation was the key driver for recovery and growth in their business. There was a need to move from traditional manufacturing methods to a much more responsive and flexible business model. To achieve this lasting change they recognised the need to engage their 5000-strong workforce in the challenges they were facing.
Programme
We worked alongside the Transformation Team at Bombardier between 2006 and 2012, engaging about 600 managers through a series of workshops that facilitated personal transformation and provided practical tools to develop their leadership styles.
Results
Bombardier Belfast have achieved remarkable results in the last few years. There has been a significant upturn in employee satisfaction, rising to 74% from 24% 5 years ago. They received a major award from their parent company for turnaround performance against a field of 80 competitors, and have recently been leading aeronautical innovation through the design of a composite wing for a new C-Series plane, now in production. The leadership attribute a great deal of this to the programme of cultural transformation.
